The TOP GUN SHOOTOUT is being hosted by MID AMERICA RC RACEWAY and the the primary sponsor for the event is TOP USA. From the title, to the awards, and even the racing format, this exciting event will be unique in every way. The play on words used to title the event is just a hint at the fun planed for the race. Every driver will receive a TOP GUN movie related gift compliments of EJ Evans and Michael O'Donnel from TOP USA. The top three finishers of all classes will also receive TG movie themed awards. Aviator Glasses and special Fighter Pilot Helmets are just some of what will be seen in the winners circle.
The Track Layout is one that will likely be remembered as one of the best ever by those that love to race. The size is 70x140 and the layout will yield some very good racing. The true "Winners Circle" will be something most have never seen.
The Event Schedule should be easy for everyone to manage. Practice for the event starts Friday May 14th at 12pm. The pits open at 8am on Saturday May 15th with practice from 9am-11:45am and racing will begin at 12:30pm. The final three rounds will begin at 9am Sunday May 16th and the target finish time is 4pm. This will give those driving from all over the "Middle America" region plenty of time to drive home at a decent hour.
The TOP GUN FORMAT is one that not only makes the racing very exciting but also gives everyone ample opportunity to make a run for the podium. The format for all classes will be six races ran heads up. Drivers will begin the event via a random sort. There will be a random resort after each of the first three rounds. The final three rounds will be sorted by points from the first three rounds. The starting order "grid" will also be drawn at random. No driver will be allowed to start in the first position more than once per class. Final results will based on a "Round by Round Points" system.
Classes & Rules
TC 17.5 Limited All 1/10th scale, 4wd, electric powered chassis will be allowed. Minimum weight allowed will be 1425g. All bodies must run the stock wing. Wing height must not exceed the roof of the body. Only ROAR approved 17.5 motors will be allowed. Only batteries with a voltage of 7.2 - 7.4 will be allowed. ESC regulations will be in place. (Example no Mamba, or Black Diamond, and Tekins must use V200 or older) Adjustable timing ESC's will be allowed only 10 degrees of timing or boost but not both. Older LRP ESC's must be set to profile four or lower, and the newer SS's must be set to profile 1. Only Solaris Spec Tires purchased at the event will be allowed. To limit the "trophy hunting" drivers entering the 17.5 Limited TC class may not enter the Unlimited TC classes.

Wing height must not exceed the roof of the body. Only ROAR approved 13.5 motors will be allowed. Only batteries with a voltage of 7.2 - 7.4 will be allowed. ESC's will not be regulated in this class. Only Solaris Spec Tires purchased at the event will be allowed. To limit the "trophy hunting" drivers may only enter Limited or Unlimited TC Classes not both.
Trans Am All 1/10th scale, 4wd, electric powered chassis will be allowed. Minimum weight allowed will be 1450g. Only ROAR approved 21.5 motors will be allowed. All cars must run a FDR of 5.2 - 6.0. Only batteries with a voltage of 7.2 - 7.4 will be allowed. ESC regulations will be in place. (Example no Mamba, or Black Diamond, and Tekins must use V200 or older)Bodies must be replicate a muscle car from the 1965 - 1972 era. All bodies may only run the stock wing. Wings that are not scale in appearance will not be allowed. Only HPI Vintage Wheels and Tires (4797 & 4793) will be allowed.
Mini Basic TCS rules will be used. Any rubber tire & wheel combo intended for use on a "M-Chassis" may be used as long as it does not exceed 60mm in height.
1/10th Nitro Sedan Basic ROAR rules will be used.
Novice This class is only for the newest drivers. Any 1/10th scale electric powered sedan chassis or "M" chassis will be allowed. Only batteries of 7.2 - 7.4 volts will be allowed. Only Tamiya brand "Silver Can" motors will be allowed (no Red DOT's). Race director may refuse admission to this class.
Location The track is located at 1409 E Parker Rd, Jonesboro, Arkansas, 72404. Jonesboro is a clean quite and safe community of about 80,000 residents. All of the prime hotels and restaurants are within five minutes of the track.
